Academics

PA Virtual is a Leader in Cyber Education

PA Virtual approaches teaching and learning for each student by partnering with parents and students to determine how to best meet the needs of each and every child.

Our programming includes:

Each school is led by a certified principal and assistant principal guiding the academic team. The PA Virtual instructional model is designed to assist each student in reaching academic success.

We believe in the team approach to instruction; this is demonstrated in the commitment of our teachers and parent educators.

We Offer Both Structure and Flexibility

Our academic program supports each child’s unique academic needs by combining the structure and flexibility he or she needs with the support of PA-certified teachers and principals.

Students and Learning Coaches participate in both synchronous and asynchronous instructional formats:

  • Synchronous- Students attend live classes with teachers and children across the  Commonwealth in a virtual classroom setting.
  • Asynchronous- Students have a customized schedule in a self-directed environment, supervised by teachers.

To help students succeed, teachers provide a pacing guide for them, outlining assignment due dates.

Our model of education provides students an individualized educational experience.

New Family Orientation

At PA Virtual, we believe all new families and students can be successful in our virtual model if they are prepared with the necessary support and knowledge. Onboarding begins with a two-week synchronous Orientation for both Learning Coaches and students, with continued support throughout the year to aid transition into our model.

Guided by Orientation teachers, families and students use their school-provided laptop to actively participate in learning. Families will learn about:

  • Academic programs
  • Organizational structure
  • Various online skills
  • Virtual and academic skills

PA Virtual’s Onboarding Program provides a strong foundation for new families to ensure a successful virtual education.

The Diamond Model of Partnership

To meet our mission, PA Virtual utilizes our Diamond Model of Partnership with the PA Virtual student at the center. Together, these pillars help our students achieve their full academic and social potential:

  • Parent as the Learning Coach: Each student enrolled must have a primary responsible adult to monitor their progress and to assist the student in meeting the requirements of the PA Virtual curriculum.
  • Academics: All PA Virtual teachers are PA-certified experts in teaching and learning using the K12® Inc. curriculum. They focus on individual students and an interactive learning experience.
  • Family Support: This award-winning department provides an array of resources and opportunities for students and families of PA Virtual.
  • Curriculum and Technology: We couple the mastery-based K12, Inc. curriculum with state-of-the-art technology to enable customized learning for every student.

Schoolwide Title 1

Schools qualify for Schoolwide Title 1 based on the number of low-income families in each district. Title 1 funding is used to supplement and improve regular education programs. Every district has a family involvement policy that describes ways parents and family can be involved in the Title 1 program. Parents must be full partners in their child’s education.

The PA Virtual Title 1 program has been established to improve student achievement and help all students meet the objectives of the K12 Inc. curriculum and the Pennsylvania Academic Standards.

of parents believe PA Virtual provides a safer learning environment than their child’s previous school.

PA Virtual has been a wonderful education option for both of my boys the past eight years.

My youngest has been accepted into the Scholars Academy and is taking high school coursework in 8th grade. My eldest son had struggled socially and was not focusing well at his brick-and-mortar school. He was able to graduate from high school in only three years with high honors. If we had to do it all over again, we would undoubtedly choose the same path: PA Virtual!
