What are the basic steps of the enrollment process?
When you are ready to enroll, prepare by reviewing this FAQ and our document checklist. Then:
Complete your application form, and begin to prepare your documents. Once we receive your application, we’ll schedule a phone call to answer your questions and walk you through the enrollment process.
You will receive a personalized list of documents and forms to submit for your child. Once your documents are received, we will contact you to complete your Enrollment Conference.
The final step in the process is your Enrollment Conference with a member of our Enrollment Team. During your Conference, we will review the specific requirements and expectations, confirm your start date and answer any final questions you may have. Please remember that your child needs to stay enrolled at his/her current school until a withdrawal date is determined at your Conference.

All students who reside in Pennsylvania are eligible for admission. If you do not live in Pennsylvania but are moving here in the near future, you will be eligible once you establish residency. For more details, please call us at 866-728-2751.
PA Virtual is a free public school; there are no tuition fees.
PA Virtual provides the materials your child needs to learn at home, including a laptop, printer/scanner, and all curricular materials. We also provide technical support, troubleshooting, and a set internet reimbursement.
PA Virtual has a rolling admission policy and many students transfer after the school year has begun. If more students submit applications than can be accommodated by the school’s capacity, a lottery will be held.

Students must stay enrolled and attending their current school while completing the application process. At the Enrollment Conference, your Enrollment Placement Teacher will set a start date with PA Virtual and a withdrawal date from your current school.
Students interested in enrolling in PA Virtual’s kindergarten program must meet the age requirement of their resident school district. If you’re not sure what the age requirement is, please contact the district directly.
PA Virtual enrolls school-age students, as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This includes students from the age of 5 through 21.
Students who are currently expelled must return to their current school after the expulsion period has passed and meet all the conditions imposed during the expulsion.
PA Virtual has a full Special Education Department and provides a continuum of services for our qualifying students. As part of the enrollment process, we will request your child’s Special Education documents
so that we can provide a continuation of appropriate services upon enrollment.
Families submit high school transcripts as part of the enrollment process. Our Guidance Counselors will conduct a credit audit to determine credit transfer and progress towards graduation requirements.
We believe that all new families and students can successfully transition into our virtual model given the necessary support/knowledge with our comprehensive onboarding program.
PA Virtual’s onboarding process will provide a strong foundation for new families in our virtual model as well as ongoing support to ensure a successful virtual education. The onboarding will begin with a two-week orientation which includes our various online systems, organizational structure, and academic programs. The onboarding will continue with ongoing support through the remainder of the school year.
According to state attendance laws, students are considered truant when they have 10 unexcused absences in a school year. Confirmation of attendance status and truancy clearance documentation may be requested.
